An Unlikely Duo, or, the Story of How a Rogue Incubus and a Streetwise Police Detective Worked Their First Case

Towering skyscrapers, soaring shuttles, throngs of people living their lives in blissful ignorance. A world governed by science and reason. Our world. Or one so very much like it, anyway, at least to the first glance.

But look deeper, and something isn't quite right. There's the unexplained, the unusual, the paranormal, lurking in the shadows of society, in the places men do not tread - or, even, blending in amongst us, human to those who don't know the truth.

Hidden behind a veil, there exists a supernatural world, blended yet separate from the human one. And today, our story focuses upon two individuals touched by this world in their own special way, two people who've never met, and yet, will need to work together to save lives.

One is a police detective, a strong woman who's had to fight prejudice to get where she is today. She can't help but see something unusual is going on. There are reports of young, attractive women, turning up in a blissful haze, their clothes disheveled and lost, in a public place, their memories of the night past gone save for an overwhelming sense of enjoyment and satisfaction - and yet, when their blood was tested, none of them had been drugged. Corpses have appeared, exsanguinated, and, worse still, the remains of people torn asunder by claws and teeth like none seen on any animal on Earth.

The other lives with a foot inside the supernatural, a drifter on the edge of both mortal and paranormal, a man bounded with a ravenous spirit that feeds off lust and sex since the day he was born. Jaded and bored, cast out from his people, he needs a spark, a reason to care.

Apart, each one will falter and fall to their own demise... together, they might well save people from a horrid fate.
