It was the latest social media challenge that was gripping the west by storm going viral almost overnight, even despite needing a bit more preparation than most of these challenges.

Unlike say the ice bucket challenge, where the materials needed everyone already had at home, or the one chip challenge where you needed to just buy a chip at eat it and it was over, and everyone knew what they were signing up for, the 24 Hour Cockwarming Challenge involved a few of these common challenge steps.

First, you had to buy the equipment, a strange-looking harness that came in two parts that could be connected. One, sort of looked like a strapped pair of underwear or a climbing harness, with several buckles and straps, and it had a large, central O-ring.

The other had lots of buckles and straps, but resembled a collar much more. When the two halves were connected, the collar hung firmly, close to the O-ring and supported by the straps, some of which connected directly to their close straps, while others arched in a curve over top of the collar-like contraption, almost as if they were meant to wrap around the top of a head and keep someone firmly locked in position from all sides.

Next, you had to figure out how it all worked, getting good enough at fumbling with all the straps to quickly secure it in place, if put on.

Finally, a-la the squeezed water bottle trick, or the pie-the-face trick from cutting the soda bottles connected with twine, you needed a somewhat patient and not-too-suspicious partner to pull off this prank challenge on, convincing them to try half the harness on, before dropping your pants, pulling their mouths directly onto the pranksters now exposed hardness and quickly securing enough buckles to ensure escape wasn't possible.

And then you just had to wait 24 hours without disconnecting your connection at all, and that was the challenge!

Despite all of those extra steps, the popularity of this challenge had so exploded within the first 72 hours of the first recorded video of it being posted by a notorious husband/wife influencer couple who had a long history of pranking each other, with a quick 60 second edited version of it being posted to Instagram and TikTok, and mentioning that footage of the full 24 hours could be purchased, with a simple OnlyFans subscription.

Maybe something in that inspired people to want to try it so badly that the waitlist for buying your own harness quickly rose to months. Still, a steady stream of these challenges went viral and only seemed to further fuel the public's demand.

From the soccer mom tricked into putting it on under the pretext of helping test some game equipment by her son, to the job interviewee who got told there was just one final step of the interview process, there were some amazing videos out there.

Of course with social media having the attention span it did, it never cared to follow up on the consequences of this addition to pranks. Was this too much, and that couple got divorced? Was a family ruined by a son's horrible act, and a job interview turned into the biggest sexual harassment payout and a jail sentence, a boss fallen from grace? Is everyone simply much more indifferent to this because it's a prank?
