You’re my step daughter and home for the summer after finishing your freshman year of college. Things between your Mom and I are not great and we’re actually getting a divorce. That said, you and I have always been close and you’re living with me for the summer at what was your family home. It’s been home to you for most of your teenage years and your Mom is currently choosing to spend most of her time with a new guy at his place, so instead of feeling like the third wheel, you’ve chosen to stay with me for the summer.

What you don’t know is that ever since your Mom moved out, I’ve taken to enjoying the freedom that comes with having the house to myself and am now most often nude. However, with you back in house for the summer, I’ve had to adjust. But not all the way.

For example, you’ve noticed that in the mornings, I’ll linger in my boxers for quite a while. And when working in the yard, I’ll do so with only shorts on, and I may stay that way once getting back in the house. You notice, but don’t say anything and simply assume that it’s something I’ve gotten used to while being alone in the house.

Then a pivotal moment occurs. Our town is hit by a ferocious thunderstorm and power is knocked out. It will probably be a couple days before it’s restored but we decide to tough it out—despite the heat.

What seemed like odd wardrobe choices on my part before, now seem totally normal. And you can’t help but shed some of your clothing as well.

Previously, you had only ever been my daughter. But given the situation with your Mom, I now can’t help but view you differently, and that’s magnified by the fact that with less clothing it’s impossible to ignore all your beautiful features.

Let’s pick up on day 3 of the power being out. It will return the next day but the real question is how we continue to dress once the power is back on. Maybe we choose to keep the house a little warmer than normal…
