[M4F] The Magic of. Summer Job
Author Summary
thatdarnpunkkyle is a male looking for a female
Post Body

Wanted: Seasonal staff. Spellbound Books, located in the realms of man, has open positions available for clerks. Position comes with free room and board. Proprietor is a skilled sorcerer and will offer instruction as well. Send applications and inquiry via runegate.

Kyle read over the advertisement one more time before submitting it to the posting board at one of The Cloister's satellite academies in the Fae realms. He knew it was dry but he figured the beach side location would sell itself.

Years ago he had been a student at the main university and earned his robes before striking out on his own. After adventuring through the worlds the accomplished sorcerer had settled down on Earth, opting to continue his scholarly research in a town that had access to a set of stable runegates and powerful leylines, tying it to the multitudes. He opened a bookstore and lived a relatively quiet life selling standard fare to the mundane masses, while trading in more esoteric tomes for magicians from the realms of man and fae alike. The stable gates made it easy for elves, orcs, really all manner of beings, to don their glamours with ease and walk amongst humans.

Life, for lack of a better word, was good. But it was also rote and routine. Kyle was missing the excitement of being surrounded by others dedicated to the arcane arts. A meeting with an old colleague who now taught at the school gave him an opportunity to live a little. The Cloister was like many earth colleges and encouraged students to engage in summer internships. That old friend encouraged Kyle to offer a summer job, a chance to inject some youthful energy into his life. Many fae were excited to visit Earth but had no reason to do so. Such a position, the friend prattled on , would allow them such an opportunity. And so Kyle finished the posting and attached some information about the location before posting it on the wizard equivalent of a job board.

Kyle assumed that the town would be a draw. Located on the shoreline, it was lively during the summer months with various people looking to escape. The streets were lined with shops that catered to a transient population. Spellbound Books was one such spot, close to the sand and completed with a coffee station inside. Kyle made his home in the same building and the apartment for the intern was there as well.

The sorcerer wasn't sure what to expect. Sure, he anticipated that some students in their final years would apply for the job but he knew that the beach was the real draw. Stretches of shoreline and the opportunity to mingle with all manner of scantily clad vacationers. So much of it was out of his hands at this point, he just waited to see who had been selected.

Summer approached at it was a day like so many others. The sun was just starting to beat down when the door to his store chimed open. A voice, feminine clearly, called out.

"I think I'm in the right place, this is the internship site, right?"

A summer time modern fantasy prompt. An upper level student from a school of magic applies - and gets - a summer internship at a bookstore managed by a sorcerer. Happy to play this as a slow burn between the student and her new teacher, or GM as the apprentice explores the town and life on earth. Reddit PMs preferred and if another prompt catches your eye, let me know!
