You all know the classic story. And not just because a new version of it is coming out soon- mermaid girl, falls in love with guy, decides to make a deal with a definitely-not-evil sea witch to give herself legs and lungs, to experience the majesty of the human world and maybe even get together with that guy.

All right, we know it? Good? Good. Now, let's flip it on its head.

I'm looking for someone who'd be interested in playing a mermaid girl! In terms of her appearance, her personality, whether she's more beautiful or monstrous, sweet or a siren- that's up for us to decide, leaving that more open to what you might prefer. But the gist of the story would be that my character, a young man (again, the specifics can be discussed, though if we're going the Disney route it definitely seems right to go for a prince, one who isn’t happy with his sheltered and freedomless life), happens to spot her one fateful evening. Perhaps mermaids are seen as a myth, or perhaps they are known about, but rare and disliked by most humans. He doesn’t catch sight of her for long, but it's enough for him to be enthralled by the potential of the world below, and of your girl in particular.

So he goes out in secret to a witch (this time on land- probably) to request a spell- to turn him into a merman, a creature that can survive below the depths of the ocean. However, for this generous gift, of course, she requires something in return. In the original, it was the poor soul’s voice. Shall we keep it the same here? Or spice it up a bit with a different, or extra, requirement? I do have ideas, but I’d be more than happy to work with something that you might have in mind…

Will true love prosper? Was it ever there in the first place? Does the witch have more wicked intentions? Are mermaids more territorial/aggressive/carnivorous than speculated?
