When an island in the middle of international waters had been bought by a mind-bogglingly rich guy, no one batted an eyelid. Nothing unusual there.

But this particularly billionaire had, at the outset of his career, passed the Bar to be a lawyer - and specifically the minutiae of maritime law.

He’d dealt with plenty of cases where something had happened on the worlds seas, and had to deal with the shit that came with crime, violence and reclamations that happened in international waters. Which court were they settled in, whose laws applied?

Eventually he was the leading authority on the world on it, and nothing could happen outside of a Countries agreed land borders that he didn’t know.

Why is this important, dear reader? It meant that, when he later made his billions in fintech, he went island shopping. Specifically, the few islands left dotted around the world that fell OUTSIDE of any countries jurisdiction.

Here, on BeachDream Island, the normal societal norms, expectations and restrictions didn’t apply. Clothes weren’t mandatory, public intercourse was simply seen as another PDA, the beautiful shops and cafes that were built by him sold the mundane mixed with the exotic and extreme.

It was a haven for deviants - not necessarily disgusting, deprived deviants, but everyone who craved a freer environment, and didn’t think they should be shamed for wanting as much.

And on this island you’ll find me, as often as my modest salary can afford. Laying on the gorgeous sun-soaked sands wearing nothing but a pair of fishnets. In the heavy-bass, sweaty nightclub alternating between glasses of water and vodka-ecstasy cocktails. Making lifelong friendships with couples, families and individuals staying at the same hotels, or eating at the same restaurants.

When everything is permissible, people let go of their own self-imposed restrictions too, and a paradise quickly builds.
