Ashcroft Klaus-Bretel of Foxwood, or "Ash" as he liked to be called, had a life most could only dream of. Being born into a wealthy aristocratic family, he inherited a title at a young age after the death of his father. His path in life seemed relatively clear-cut; stay polite, stay quiet, get a cushy job through family connections and pass things on to the next generation. Unfortunately for his family, Ash seemed to have other plans.

He showed signs of defiance from the start; raiding the pantry in the middle of the night, refusing to have his hair cut. At one point he was even caught down the local pub, drinking with a group of rowdy revellers. He wore a hood over his bright yellow hair to try and mask his identity, but unfortunately his accent proved to be a dead-giveaway. Today at the age of 21 not much has changed. He regularly disregards his noble duties in favour of hiking through the woods or playing marbles with the urchins.

On one such adventure, he decided to explore a cave, partially submerged in a lake at the very edge of his fiefdom. There was nothing particularly special about it from the outside, he just wanted to explore it because he could. He disrobed, swam through the water, and held his breath as he entered the cave. He wasn't expecting much, perhaps a neat rock formation, or if he got really lucky a small smuggler's stash. What did lay before his eyes was extraordinary in its entirety.

Workbenches laden with scattered papers in an undecipherable language. Whirring, buzzing, and bleeping contraptions, some twice the noble's height. At the end of the room, which unlike any other cave had tiled floors and neatly carved walls, stood a large opaque tank with a singular red button. Ash was entranced, his curiosity had been piqued several times over. It would take the willpower of a golem to resist the urge of pressing it, a willpower that Ash certainly did not possess.

With a lingering sense of unease in the back of his mind, he leant forth and compressed the button with all the weight of his body. The whirring, buzzing, and bleeping of the machines grew louder. A plume of smoke erupted from the tank. A torrent of liquid cascaded down as a door slowly began to open.

Who stands before him? It's up for you to decide.
