A loud crack of lightning illuminates the imposing figure of Castle Nethria, a large Manor built atop a platue that overlooks the mountainside. The journey alone would have turned many off, passing dense thickets and muddy roads that seemed to stretch for miles ahead. Everything about the place was gloomy. From the sound of ravens that accompanied your passage to the distant howl of wolves. An eerie fog surrounds the forested hillside, clinging like a scarf along a tightened neck. Then the arrival itself. A long stretch of stone bridge connected the dirt roads and the castle itself. To each side, a sheer drop as far as the eye could see. One would say the Castle was well protected at least

Many know of Sebastian Nethria. A young, noble-born man of meager status. He had gained much of his fortune and renown after marrying himself off to a rather Royal Elven beauty. The Castle itself was said to belong to his Elven wife, Latifa Nethria, with which it is said he took on her last name. Much of their life after that is shrouded in mystery. The pair often invite many an affable individuals to dine at their Manor and stay the night or so. Many say you are not truly of great renown, until you have been invited to Dine at Castle Nethria. Regardless though, it would seem you have found yourself invited to The Castle.

Even if the renown of dining at Castle Nethria does not peak your fancy in itself, the Lord and Lady of the Castle should. The Lord, standing tall and well-built for a human man and looking younger than his actual age. With jet-black hair and an attire to make any noble blush, the man was in the prime of his life. His wife, and Lady of the Manor, bore the same beauty one would expect of Elven Descent. With ashen grey skin, a full bosom and thin, hourglass figure, many have fallen for charms, and just as many make it to her bed, they say.

It would even seem that you aren't the only one to receive such an invitation. Even if the Lord and Lady are still not enough for you, this grand occasion also seems to have plenty of affluent guests in attendance. From Madam Lazul, a successful noble who received her fortune from spice trading. Many whispers hang around this beautiful maiden, most common of all her secret trade of illegal substances and the like. To the Duke Merlinus, an old conquerer who gained his land and title by blood. Though in his later years now, he still maintains the stature and senses of any man half his age. The whispers of his capabilities in bed alone should have tickled anyone's fancy. And many, many more await. Though the invitation only mentions a single night of Dinner, you do find yourself packing for more than your fair share of a stay. Not much of a harm though, after all, who wouldn't want to extend their stay at Castle Nethria?

And that is where you find yourself now. Stepping out of your carriage and being greeted by a well-dressed butler. Several other carriages stand around you, showcasing the other expected guests. The hushed murmurs of conversation wash over you as you stand in awe at the Castle. Towering in its shape and size, the interior being the only source of light on this moonless evening paints it in a very intimidating atmosphere. Though that matters not, you have arrived at Castle Nethria, and it will certainly be a grand time..."

Hope you enjoyed that little starter for a prompt! If you've read this far I truly do commend you! As you can probably tell I'm looking for something more unique. A gothic style, political intrigue story set entirely in a singular, large mansion. And I do mean large. Castle Nethria is meant to rival any small village in size so there will be no shortage of Roleplay opportunities to be had in this location. As you can probably tell from the title, the main draw of this prompt is a murder mystery! During the night of the Dinner, a body is found. Who is it and why were they killed? The only way to find out is during the actual Roleplay itself. I would greatly like for this particular plot to run through that prompt, where you attempt to solve exactly what happened that night if the murder and slowly piece together the answers through political intrigue and maybe a few one night stands. I'm a big fan of Sherlock Holmes and murder mystery style stories so I was hoping to really play that out!

I also wished to take a more GM style approach to this prompt. You will have your character, the guest of honor at Castle Nethria, and I will handle the rest! Anything and everything you could wish to do, we can do it. As a fan of ttrg's, I truly do want you to feel immersed in the setting and this story that we're both writing together. Naturally this means it doesn't matter whether you wish to be a female or male guest. There will be more than enough variety to explore here on my part, from the Lord's and Lady's, to the other guests themselves. Of course I will tailor things to your preference so if you would prefer to have all the big-breasted women or muscular men to yourself then that is what we'll do.
