In the Middle East it used to be customary for a Father to give away his daughter to a man she would marry without her consent. That custom is still practiced today by some. For this story I want to explore what happens after a daughter is given away to someone she doesn't know. Taught her whole life to submit to her husband and do what she is told.
A young business owner with a successful company strikes a deal with a Middle Eastern country. In this deal he brings power and a higher standard of living to rural areas. In one such area a grateful village leader offers his daughter as a thank you. At first the business man denies, not wanting to take a girl he doesn't know with him as his wife. But to refuse would insult the man and the village to the point where they would refuse his services and nullify his multi-million dollar contract. So he accepts.
I really want to dive into the different possibilities. Was she raised up being told she must obey her husband no matter what? Does he take advantage of that or try to show her she can decide on her own? Is she defiant and resents the man who took her away from her home?
