Help Wanted: Sales Associate Needed, Fur Salon

I push my considerable bulk back from my rich, mahogany desk and look at the ad my secretary, Doris, placed on Craigslist for the position. We’d put a few ads in the paper and on job hiring sites but no takers yet. I sigh, it’s likely going to be awhile before I get someone hired as good as Alyssa was. Why on god’s green earth did she have to get so sloppy with the affair?? I walk over to the full length mirror in the office I make a habit of using when I ask a lady to try on a fur in my office. The reflection looking back at me show’s a man far past his prime. White, with a receding patch of hair that, while mostly leaving the top of my head, clings to the back and sides like barnacles on a ship. My large cut sticks out ostentatiously from my immaculately tailored suit. I’ve gotten more then a few Tony Soprano jokes in my lifetime. I’m wearing a large black, fox fur coat that goes down to my ankles. It’s a favorite of mine, and something I wear often considering how cold I leave my office and salon.

It never ceases to amaze me how I can still worm my way into a woman’s pants. Even though I’m a shadow of the man I used to be in my twenties.

Alyssa was far from the first, nor the last, most of the women in my shop I’ve had my way with. “Mr. Ezra” Doris’ older woman’s voice, breaks through on the intercom, “We have a lady waiting here. She said she read your ad in the paper and would like an interview.” A pause, “She definitely looks like she’d be a valuable asset to our team.” I smile, good old dependable Doris. She’s always kept an eye out for me, filtering the uglies from the hot ones. She probably knows my taste in women better then I do myself.

I press the intercom button, “Send her in.”
