It had been a particularly tumultuous year for William. In the summer, shortly after he’d turned eighteen, his entire extended family died in a tragic accident at a party. A fate that he had thankfully avoided since he was stuck at home with a bad cold.

But now that his father and older brothers were gone, this meant that William had just inherited his family’s fortune and business empire, making him the richest man in the country. Barely a week after his family’s funeral the vultures that were the upper class were already circling around him, ready to turn his grief into their gain.

The first to strike was Lord Wald, a close friend of William’s late father. Who offered to help with managing William’s vast empire of industry and land in exchange for one thing. William had to marry his daughter. He’d met the Lord’s daughter a few times and she seemed nice enough. Although there was one slight issue in that she was easily at least ten years older than him. But William was hardly in a position to refuse, so the engagement went ahead. With the new couple due to tie the knot in January, giving them a few weeks to get to know one another beforehand.

Similarly to Lord Wald, I would like for his daughter to be equally manipulative. She’s probably not thrilled about marrying an eighteen year old, especially since she’s a fair bit older than him. But she will do her duty for her family and try to make the boy love her, even if she doesn’t feel much herself.

Onto their relationship, to begin with I think that William will be somewhat receptive to the marriage, partly because he’s just lonely and depressed after his family died. As for your character, it’s up to you about how she feels about it all. Regarding life in the bedroom, I think it could be interesting if William struggles to please her to begin with, due to his relative inexperience. This could lead the story in a variety of different ways. Maybe she tries to teach him how to be better in bed, or maybe she just tries to seek alternative ways of satisfying herself. Maybe William asks someone else to teach him as a way of surprising his wife. Or maybe your character just isn’t really into men, so there’s not a whole lot William can do.

The setting. I’ve chosen a more modern-ish setting for the prompt. But I feel like this plot could easily work well in a historical or even fantasy setting. I feel like the Victorian times or the nineteen twenties could be good options. Or even in the medieval period/fantasy setting, if we had William becoming king unexpectedly or something.
