Science has advanced to a point where we've colonized other planets, explored deep space, met alien races, and even found the secret to super-lightspeed travel. This, of course, has brought along many, many various other things that we've started to try, one of them being quick and easy grafts of new body parts, along with their internal functions, with the possibility of even inflating those functions to a much higher level than is natural. This led to how we met, a trial run of a newer technology has become available, and is being tested on willing participants with the caveat that they're to sign a waiver, with the full knowledge that the trial is highly experimental, and results may wildly vary.
