I want to become a digital nomad in the next year or so. Aside from finding a remote job, what should I do before hand?

Post Body
25 year old male in Michigan, USA. I have been lucky enough to travel to 30 countries, I speak English, basic French and minimal Spanish. I have a bachelors in Geography as well as work experience in hospitality and sales.
My three biggest questions are:
- Do you find if you speak the language (let’s say Spanish which I want to learn more) more fluently it’s easier to develop relationships in place even as a nomad?
- Would doing this around 27 or so be too late? I’m a gay guy who’s never settled down and lives with his parents.
- What is one thing that I’m probably not asking that I should be asking?
