Post Body

Hi all. Looking for some advice/tips.

First time nomad here, getting ready to take off to Spain as my starting point. I don’t know what I’m doing or where I’m going aside from my first month yet, and I don’t even know how long I’m planning on doing this for. I’m kind of just picking up & going after 5 years of waiting for the “best time,” and realizing that doesn’t exist, so I just need to go.

A bit about my situation: - I’m 25, from west coast USA, and self-employed, but taking time off to start. I’ve worked my ass off since I was 14, so I’m looking forward to just enjoying life a bit. I could live comfortably for 6mo - 1yr without working, depending on where I go. Ex. Paris for 1yr would be tough, but dividing some time between more popular cities & other locations, I’d be fine. - Not getting rid of my apartment in the US yet, but I have friends at home & a moving company ready to go to help pack my stuff & get it into storage should I choose to do this for longer than a couple months. - Well-traveled to an extent. I’ve been traveling abroad since age 5, and I’ve lived in 5 areas of the US so far, 3 in my adult life. Not multi-lingual, however. I know enough Latin Spanish to understand what people are talking about & order food. - Europe really isn’t my ideal, but it seemed smartest to start to ease into life abroad. Asian countries interest me much more, though. - Health & fitness are really important to me. I’d like to visit areas where that’s a normal part of the lifestyle. - I’m very interested in workaway gigs.

Some things I would appreciate advice or tips on: - What things do you wish you knew before you started nomad life? - Things to avoid/things to pay more attention to? - How to be most respectful of other cultures during your time in their country? - How to pack the smartest? Especially considering multiple climates I may come across? - Have you done workaway before? Any tips/suggestions? - Anything else you may have insight on.

Thank you in advance! I know I have so much to learn and so many ups & downs I’m about to face, and I’m really looking forward to it all.
