I have four years of business development experience, and I know that I can take these skills anywhere in the world, so I’m wondering why I would stay in a country that seems to be turning the corner on its debt, for better or worse.
The US hasn’t made a net profit in 22 years, and has the largest desert in the entire world.
I’m really wondering with all of these layoffs, inflation (which still not as bad as a 2008 crisis or the 1980s recession), cultural divides, etc. Why I would ever go back.
I am currently in Colombia, and I love this country, the prices are unbelievable and the culture is great overall.
How have all of you grown your wealth outside of the US? There are multiple currencies stronger than the US dollar and I’m wondering about living in Switzerland or working for a Swiss company, obviously, not as easy as I make it sound, but I’m very confident in my abilities and work ethic.
Essentially, my main fear is that I will be stuck paying US taxes forever, and if I leave, it will be difficult to grow my wealth elsewhere, but the more I travel, and the more people I talk to, it seems like as long as I can get a work visa or sign up as a contractor, then there is no real reason I couldn’t get a remote career earning in stronger currencies.
All advice welcome!
