Question about first time fistula access
Post Body
So, I'm terrified of blood. Im thrown into a panic attack whenever I see a tiny bit of it outside the tubes. Today was my first day using my fistula and I told the techs that I really can't handle blood, and will either freak out or faint on them if it gets messy. The tech today told me I had to be the one to hold pressure on the site during removal while he went and did something else. Sure enough, I didn't put enough pressure and started bleeding and panicking.
My question: is it normal to be the one to apply pressure?? I don't think I can handle doing that myself and I hate being so needy to the techs but I truly can't help freaking out over it
