Hey all! I'm posting here cuz i've noticed, (and my nurses...) that I really have a hard time with fluid restriction, I'm on 1L a day, in center Hemodialysis. over the week I'm allotted 2.5 between sessions and 3L over the weekend. I don't have much of a problem with it over the week but during the weekend is difficult. I just switched to HD about a month ago now from PD and it's been difficult since I've been so used to being able to take around 2L off every night using 2.5% dextrose. I use the 8.5oz Styrofoam cups, 4 a day, but i still seem to go over, I'm assuming it's my body retaining water from food but I don't really eat much salt or foods that make you retain much, nor do I eat a lot. I have yet to be evaluated for a transplant and really need to get evaluated asap and the fluid is the one thing holding me back. I use the electrolyte gum, fruit, etc, but still I have a really hard time with drinking, I won't lie. If anyone has anymore tips than "frozen grapes" or the same stuff everyone else says I'd really appreciate it !!! I've just never understood how people can do it, y'all are literally amazing cuz it's SO HARD after being able to drink however much your entire life and then having to restrict.
