What are the long term implications of doing insufficient dialysis?
Post Body

Hi Everyone,

Due to financial constraints my Brother has had to cut back on dialysis from three times a week to two times a week and I was wondering what could be the long term implications for this?

His doctors do a pre and post dialysis blood test once a month and tell him that two sessions are insufficient as his urea numbers show that his kidneys are only 35% cleansed and the goal is 65-70%.

He tells me that he is experiencing numbness in his hands and feet as well as shortness of breath. From the little research I have done, I figure he is experiencing nerve damage and most likely anaemic.

I know he can take an iron supplement for the anaemia but is nerve damage permanent?

My Brother is in a third world country with a very poor healthcare system so I have to turn to reddit and ChatGPT to find some help!

Aside from iron, are there any other supplements you guys think are essential for someone with this disease?

Looking forward to hearing your feedback.
