And I can't help but notice how similar the changes to d4 s4 make it so much like d3. The main differences at this point are:
-aspects on items that augment stats and skills (they do the same thing in d3 except you can't swap them from one piece of gear to another) -skill tree instead of skills with runes as variation
Of course there's differences like the style of the campaign not being open world and some mechanics...but it's pretty damn similar. The cursed chests and in game events, greater rifts being 'the pit' now, the stats work very similarly...
While I'm happy d4 won't be as bad now, it makes me wonder what they're going to do.
Is it going to turn into d3 and d2r where seasons are recycled and there's limited new content? Or do you think they'll actually grow d4 into its potential?
I feel like blizzard is not the blizzard we used to know them to be and I'll be bummed if they can't get back to the ground breaking game design they used to have :(
