Best way to farm if I'm not looking for anything specific?
Post Body

So, I know that there are several different ways to farm in d2, and each way is more or less effective depending on what you want. For example, if you want high runes or runeword bases, you might farm cows; if you want mid-level uniques and sets, you do meph/andariel; if you want gold, you farm trav with a barb; if you want high lvl uniques, you farm AT or the pits, and so on.

My question is - assuming I'm not looking for anything specific, what's the best way to simply find the most value? Imagine, for example, that I'm converting everything I find into Ist runes via trading, what's the method that will leave me with the most Ist runes in the end, assuming I can do them all at roughly equal efficiency? Is it better to farm Meph and trade the stuff for Ists, or is it better to try to high roll in cows/AT and then if I do find something I trade it for a lot of Ists? Or is the best method Uber services with a Smiter, or farming keys, or rushing people for their forge, or trying to buy 3/20s from Anya?

Apologies if this topic has been beaten to death, but every time I try to find information on the topic, I always end up with "depends on what you're looking for", and I was wondering if anyone had any idea what the most valuable way to farm is assuming I am not actually looking for anything in particular.

Thanks!
