I've known that I'm considered pre-diabetic for a long time, it runs throughout my family, I try to maintain my health but I'm low income and work in fast food. Not a very good set up. On top of that, I'm autistic and like very simple foods, a lot of textures bother me and I'm not very open to trying new foods, or new combinations of foods. Has anyone else struggled with this, and how have you worked on it? Do you have any recommendations on where to start?
Edit: it would definitely be easier to know what foods I do and don't eat. I love vegetables as far as green beans, carrots, broccoli, spinach, potatoes, lettuce, and very rarely tomatoes because of the seeds but I still enjoy them from time to time. Fruits are difficult because I hate seeds, but seedless grapes, pears, bananas, and pineapple are fine, I love apples too but they have to be sliced because I have braces. I'm very picky when it comes to breakfast foods, especially cereal, but would really like suggestions as far as high-fiber cereals, and atleast give them a shot, and I eat oatmeal regularly. I have a lactose sensitivity but I love milk, cheese, and yogurt, I've been told that Greek yogurt is better but I absolutely cannot stand it. I don't venture out with meat, only beef and chicken, and even then is iffy if there's too much fat. Some things I will absolutely not eat include Brussel sprouts, certain rices, onions, mushrooms, shrimp, and most pastas. eggs are not a favorite due to the texture, but I tolerate them at best. I hope this helps!
