Ok so I was happily going along as a diabetic without even knowing it, consuming a high carb diet and I felt fine. Then, when I got my diagnosis I started shifting my diet to consume a lot fewer carbs. And I keep having these spells.
They typically occur after a meal or else in the middle of the night (like 1 or 2 am). I will start to feel lightheaded and, for lack of a better word, shaky. It’s not really a visible shaking, but I feel like I’m shaking inside, like my internal organs are shivering but I’m not cold. And the lightheadedness isn’t really a dizziness, cause I don’t feel unbalanced it’s more like I’m feeling like I need to grab onto something cause I feel like I might pass out. I never do actually pass out, but that’s how I feel. I asked the doctor if it might possibly be low blood sugar, and she said “almost certainly not.”
Ok, so I started testing myself when I got my testing equipment, and bg is indeed low when I’m having these episodes. Am I doing something wrong? You would think low blood sugar wouldn’t be a worry with this condition. I don’t inject insulin. Why did I feel better when I wasn’t doing a thing to monitor what I eat?
