How does stress affect your blood sugar?
Post Body

Hi guys, I've recently changed my diet to high fiber and I've been doing intermittent fasting. My numbers were doing great that I fasting blood sugar ranges from 80 to 110. My BS whole day is also normal (not more than 130).

If I eat something with sugar (as sometimes I can't help it but I eat very little just to satisfy my tastebuds), my sugar goes up to 135 (which isn't bad considering).

This week, I've been in a lot of stress at work (typical deadlines, projects, issues, etc.) and some stress in my personal life too (had an argument with a special person).

Here's what I noticed -

  1. Work Stress - I was in the office for a few days, I was feeling okay but there's a bit of stress. My sugar spiked to 180 on day 1. Day 2, my sugar went to 200 and my BP elevated to 150/90. Mind you, I was feeling okay. I found out bout the sugar because I have a CGM and when it was too high, I went to the office clinic to get my BP checked. I'm sure it was the office stress because when I had a 180, I hadn't eaten anything yet. My BS quickly went down to 130, down to 110 in less than 1 hr (cos I went home).
  2. Personal Stress - my sugar ranged between 170 - 190 during the time I was having arguments (2 days). When things were settled, my sugar went down to normal range too.

So I guess my question is, how do you handle your stress?

I'm pretty good in compartmentalizing things and I don't get stressed easily or I don't feel it. But how can I manage it if I don't feel it. :(

I hope to learn from your experiences. :)
