I’m employed at a company with great health insurance ($0 Deductible, $0 Copays, relatively low pharmacy and DME prices), but I want to leave and start my own company.
I’ve done some preliminary research on the public marketplace in the United States, but I haven’t really found any way to estimate my costs (monthly insurance fees, cost of my Dexcom G6, lantus, novolog and needles).
I’ve got a couple of questions for my fellow T1Ds:
If you’re on a marketplace plan now, how much money would you spend towards your healthcare / diabetes needs?
Is there a plan that you feel is “best” for diabetics?
Are there resources out there that can help me (and others reading this) better understand and anticipate costs when moving to private insurance through the public marketplace?
Any other words of wisdom from folks that have gone through this process are welcome too ♥️.
Thanks!
