I was diagnosed in late September. Literally TWO DAYS before I was to move out of my parents house and continue my education.
I have had many health issues associated with diabetes including thrush, cysts, and even skin rashes. Because of these issues and the town I live in, I needed to go to the emergency room for an eye infection. While I was in triage, I mentioned that I am diabetic. While I was having my pulse checked the nurse asked me if I was type 1 or type 2. I told her that Iโm type 2 and she responded with โyouโre only 20!โ I told her that I am a special case because at the time of conception, both of my parents have been diagnosed with diabetes, and that my mothers obstetrician was worried that I could be born diabetic, but that I was born perfectly healthy but that I may develop diabetes later in life.
She told me that my story made sense, but I think we can all agree that no one was expecting this to happen.
