So Since I started insulin, I've been diligently dropping my bd autoshield "needles" into a sharps container, and taking them back to the laboratory to be processed as sharps, but it has occurred to me this entire time, that they in fact have no exposed needle anywhere and you can barely even get to the needle if you physically pry them apart. It seems wasteful to use a sharps container for these things, but I was always told to put my sharps in a sharps container and take them back to the pharmacy, so I do.
The Question: Do any of you know of any laws or medical supplies literature saying explicitly to NOT deposit these "needles" into a sharps container, or any material citing lack of a sharps container as a benefit of these "needles"?
(Yes, I know they have superfine needles inside, but nobody can stick themselves without actively trying, and they aren't reusable for drugs or anything else even if you try, so "needles")
