Sensu Worth it?

I work with a large organization that's using Sensu for Monitoring and alerts that then kicks off Ansible playbooks for some self healing. I don't work directly with the group but from what I understand, Sensu licensing is very costly. Does anyone have better alternatives?
OpenSource preferred.
