How not to associate paycheck with dev skill or happiness

Recently, I made a switch and chose the lesser paying option because I thought, it will help my career in longterm. But since then I am just finding it really hard to be content with myself. How do you guys suggest to seperate dev skill from the pay we get. And how not to associate salary == happiness BS.
