TL;DR

Hi,

You can read everything below but I added a TL;DR here because your time is important.

Here is the gist:

  • Most high-level marketing consultants are bullshit because they are too removed from the day-to-day operations of your business.
  • Marketing is all about prioritizing which drives the most results with the smallest amount of time, money, or leverage possible.
  • It also helps to have a top-level goal (a goal that you can base your entire marketing efforts around) to gauge how close you are fulfilling your objectives.

NOTE: I go into extreme detail below so you can make the best marketing decisions possible with the resources that you have currently (so, read below).

I am not a high-level marketing consultant. (Short answer: I specialize in conversions (sales and marketing) for your business in a very hands-on way).

Old video me explains what I do for clients.

I only have 2 slots that are currently open and it would be nice if I can serve you before November 2019 comes around.

I offer a FREE marketing diagnosis so you can position your business competitively and reach your goals without being lost in what to do next.

For more information on that, feel free to reach me here.

For some helpful information (and you are dying to know to get people to your website), just keep reading below.

Some marketers are just shit but there is one breed of marketers who are just the worst: high-level marketing consultants.

Finding the right marketing hire for your team is hard when you don't know to screen for.

However, it would be better to have some idea of what to screen against.

Keep reading and you should have some idea of what you are looking to avoid.

In addition, you will be able to learn how to have clear and concrete goals by the time you are done reading this.

Infinite Solutions with Infinite Solutions

It does help to have a marketer who can diagnose problems quickly.

What is even better is to have marketer who can propose solutions that are within reality.

Having a high-level marketing consultant who barks orders to your low-level marketing hires or you is just useless.

Over a quarter (29%) of startups fail because of not enough cash

High-level marketing consultants are too far removed from your business because they are not in it and don't understand the resources that your business.

Because of this, you are going to want a marketing hire who understands that you have limited resources and pitching solutions with a direct, accessible method to solve it is useless.

Priorities, Priorities, Priorities

The problem with infinite solutions is that that only work in environments where resources are infinite.

Someone who is removed from your team as a "high-level marketer" than someone who is in the trenches with you is removed from even thinking about priorities.

The truth is that you are always competing with the clock when it comes to gaining traction, reducing churn rates, and converting people through content on a consistent basis.

Having foggy goals like "needing traffic" doesn't help, either.

Having a top-level goal such as, "Generate 10,000 impressions on my YouTube videos by sharing the content across social media groups and leveraging 10% of my push notification subscribers with the video published directly on my website" is more concrete goal than, "Hey, I need traffic".

When it comes to priorities and marketing, the question is fourfold:

  • what;
  • how;
  • how important is this;
  • and at what cost

Follow The Data

The best thing that you can do is follow your data.

Sure, you can always listen to Side Hustle or Entrepreneur on Fire but you are only getting one piece of story.

Data is your no-nonsense friend who comes out and slap the beer can straight out of your hand because you have an AA meeting in the morning.

There is always general data statistics page like these that you can use. - which have their place and time.

However, depending on what your priorities are, you have to make the best decisions when it comes to reacting with data that are personally reflected based on your marketing performance.

For example, you find out that one social media platform outperforms the other social media platforms.

Now, based on that data that you gathered from how things performed, you can make quick and nimble changes rather than just relying on just conventional wisdom.

Marketing is an On-Off Switch

In marketing, you are doing 2 things: getting out in the public and interacting with fans and communities that are relevant for your business or optimize the processes so that you can perform better.

So, how what exactly does that look like?

Long story short, the best to post content on social media is usually on weekdays. These guys go into much more detail than I am willing.

Knowing this, you can use weekends to create content or craft a landing page video that skyrocket your conversion rates by approximately 80% (compared to without video).

You can use the weekdays with already pre-created content with a pre-scheduling software like HootSuite to launch content at times when you are not available.

This is just one solution but the more important lesson is that you need to take notice of what your time commitments, your resources, and even the delegated labor that you have to handle this.

Having a marketing hire who understands these factors and is able to work with you to get your business is key.

Trust This Procedures to Help You Reach Top-Level Goals:

You need sales but you just not sure how.

As much I can say that marketing is not complicated, that statement helps no one.

So, let's focus on what we can do to get in the right headspace so that way, we can create clear, concrete, relevant, realistic objectives that takes into account of your limitations with time, money, and resources.

  • INQUIRY: Even if you are in your own market (you are seling to people like yourself), you probably don't know how to sell a product to them. Go scour the Internet like a mad man using tools like Outrankio - your favorite lite SEO tool for SEO keywords that your market is looking for, research certain subreddits where your audience is going to be at and look at the statements that they are saying that is related to your product, your market. Even scour information on your competition so you can position your offerings in a way that your customers cannot say no to.

  • OPTIMIZE: CREATE: After you've gathered data on your competition, your market, and you know how you are going to stand out from the competition. The best thing that you can do is to set up everything that you need to present your website to your potential customers, have a funnel strategy set up, and have a copy that is necessarily explains how you solve your problem. Basically, what you need to do in a sense is have a list of the ingredients (every highly-prioritized tool) that you need to fulfill a top-level for your business and get those free accounts up and running. This is the phase where you brainstorm, figure out what exactly do you need to have, and plan how everything fits together. After, go get those accounts started.

  • OPTIMIZE: SETUP: The next thing is that you need to configure how everything you just bought is going to work together. Are you using a chatbot for your Facebook Page? Are you prioritizing function over experience (for right now)? This is the part where you have to set up operations in how everything works together. During this time, you will have a top-level goal to adhere to: Are you trying to optimize your website for traction (getting seen by more people); audience engagement (keeping most of the people who are on your site/app/platform); conversion (getting the largest amount of people to commit to you at stages so they will buy from you later on).

  • TRACTION: This is when you have to focus on generating traffic and getting seen over everything else. It doesn't mean that you are not going to be engaging with your community during this time, it just means that you have to prioritize getting traction so that way, you are able to get people more to see your business and your product offerings until a certain milestone where it's paramount to prioritize keeping people onboard.

  • AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT: During this phase, you are prioritized with making sure that people who are signed or subscribed to you. Creating interesting content is one way to do this, interacting with your fanbase or product users directly through livestreams or Stories is another. Just show up and build mechanisms in place where people don't feel like they are forgotten by you. What kind of mechanisms, you ask? Use rewards in your content to get people to perform an action in exchange for something that you have that they want. Replying to poll of questions that most of your fans want you to answer in a fun video. On a product side, it would be to constantly speaking with your user base to make sure that your product is direly important to them.

  • CONVERSION: This is the part where your customer is ready to buy. Depending on the price point of your product, they may be buying from you right away or they may need some convincing. Har har. In all honestly, if you develop a strong relationship along with a product that they need, they will buy from you. Still, why leaves things up to chance. Make sure that they are able to buy quickly, make sure the offer is entirely. Conversion doesn't even start at the purchasing. Make sure that you have a clear call-to-action at the beginning of your video content to get people to subscribe to you after introducing valuable information.
