For reference, I decided to detrans a few months ago though everyone at work still knows me as a trans guy.

I work with a MTF and for some reason they always feel the need to bring up politics and gender-related stuff when it’s just us. I never really contribute to the conversation, I just let them talk…but today they said something that really twisted my gut.

They said they were “dysphoric” for not getting periods…they said it with a lighthearted chuckle. If only they knew. If only they KNEW THE REALITY.

If only they knew the anxiety of potentially being pregnant. If only they knew the pain. If only they knew how it felt to have your childhood end the moment you started bleeding. If only they knew how it felt to have the government try to regulate your body. If only they knew how it felt for doctors never to really listen. If only they knew the reality of having to decide on an abortion. If only they knew how it felt to have people recommend medicine that isn’t good for you just to get it to stop. If only they knew what it’s like to pretend you’re not on your period at work. If only they knew what it’s like to have intense cramps during an exam. If only they knew what it’s like to spend a ton on period products just to keep blood from running down your legs uncontrollably. If only they knew how some grown ass men cringe at the idea of a woman getting her period. If only they knew how it feels to grow up being taught to feel ashamed for a process you have no control over. If only they knew.

I feel like the shit I’ve been struggling with my entire life is no more than some fashionable accessory to them.

It is clear that this person has absolutely no clue what females actually endure. I had no words. I still don’t.
