Just a real quick Hot Take, so one of the things I can do in Destiny 2 (and also what Bungie is encouraging) is grind for God Roll Weapons and High Stat Armor.

So let’s take a look at the new seasonal event Battle Grounds. You take Gold that you earn in all activities in the game to charge a Hammer that will open a chest at the end of the Battle Grounds activity. The Hammer has mods that can be unlocked for ranking it up to give you better rewards (Weapons Armor..) sooo

Why? Why would you run old activities to then run an event over and over to get rolls and stats on weapons and armor? Well that’s the grind your building a load out your collecting and checking the box....right?

In order to start this current season in Destiny 2 I had to go delete god roll weapons and high stat armor in my vault because one I didn’t have room (my fault for hoarding so much) and two that gear was sunset and would be ineffective for these new activities. At that moment I though, why would I want to do this again with the only thing changing is the seasonal activity to earn a sorta different SMG or and sorta different armor piece but yet I still do all the core activities to do this anyway. That’s most of my context....and look I’m not complaining on just having an awakening for my own interest...this is a video game..play it have fun sometimes it has something different to do....totally see and understand that. That leads to the Hot Take.

HOT TAKE: This game needs to cut collection in the way it used to be and as far as “builds” go you have also ZERO activities that give you freedom for a build. Most of the modifiers, artifact mod unlocks, weekly/daily bounties and challenges require specific weapons when doing X task and in the case of the new seasonal event this time around you have to use specific weapons to complete its upgrade path. So don’t tell me to play for rolls and high stat armor anymore as something that you do in this game. Instead, show me why season to season I’m here to enjoy the now and not care about what I did in the past or hold on to anything longer than the relevant time frame that the sandbox and seasonal focus employees.

This is a free to play game with a seasonal model and that’s okay, I will play it as that until I have no more interest.
