Post Body

TL;DR: Destiny 2 player rants about Destiny 2. Scroll along down the line. or read it. Up to to you.

disclaimer: this is my opinion, based on my experiences within Destiny 2, blah di blah blah. I'm not a dev, I'm not a proffesional who basically gets paid to play this game.

Since there seems to be a surge in "Destiny 2 bad" posts, I'd like to throw my 2 cents in. Some of you may agree, some of you may not, but that's on you.

Now, I pre-ordered d2 basically a week after it came out, had a lot of fun with the whole rockstar and pop tarts loot deal. That was cool, I'd like to see more of that. Played for a few months solid, played the beta, had a great time. I came back for Osiris, Warmind, Forsaken, and now Shadowkeep. These have all largely been entertaining.

Here's my Rub, though.

I don't like the seasonal based system, period. Having to shell out money constantly for a game, when you're living on minimum wage and minimum hours, makes it very hard to keep up with everyone else, especially if you may only have so much patience or time to participate in the game, or just get bored easily, like I do.

I like the idea of new game types and essentially minigames to play with. I had an absolute blast with Vex offensive, even though I only got to play it for like a week, and only one or two matches at that. I would have loved it becoming a permanent fixture, a'la Archon's Forge, Prison of Elders, etc. Same with the Sundial activity. From what little I've played of it, it feels like something I could get into. I understand you guys need the monies to do the dev stuff, but making your game free was probably a bad idea. Judging by the amount of players I see online, you can't be doing too badly for yourself.

I feel like Bungle has dropped the ball in some respects with the whole "for the casuals" Thing they've been touting. There's far too much to do and so little time to do it, especially when you have families, class or school, or several jobs just to make sure your rent is paid, your electric is paid, and you have food.

I'd love to see other events from Destiny 1 come back around, if they're gonna be doing seasonal events. This is more specifically in reference to SRL, which seemed to have a large fanbase surrounding it and could even rope not-pvp'ers into basically PVP. Hell, make it its own gametype, like Strikes, Crucible, etc. I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants SRL to come back, or Faction Rallies, or Trials, or what have you. They could even make Holliday the sole proprietor and Vendor.

To my original point, I feel like there's simply far too much to do on the daily, and even weekly basis. I sympathize with many who've been saying the Destiny 2 is basically and endless loop of "bounty this, bounty that, and guess what, more bounties."

They also need to stop with raising the power level so frequently. It makes trying to keep up, to even PLAY in endgame activities nearly impossible. I can appreciate the bone they're throwing us by letting us start at like, 850. 960 is a nice number. I like this number. I'd also like an option to disable the artifact light levels, if you so choose. If my character says "960", it feels underwhelming knowing you're only getting that from something you're gonna lose next season, especially if you end up maxing it out, cause you'll drop 10 light or more in the next season and have to build back up again. Artifacts are cool, artifcat perks are cool, but the light boost isn't necessary, especially if it doesn't count for soemthing like Iron Banner, where that 10 light makes a difference, or so we're led to believe.

Planetary Bounties: Basically worthless. If you have a tracker ghost, or a Treasure Hunter, or what have you, planetary materials are easy cheesy. Even just wandering around a destination, you find plenty of crap. Turn the armors into ornaments, be done with it.

Lost Sectors: Make them worth doing. If you're getting a majority of blue gear you can't even use, just give us the parts instead, save me the hassle. I can understand leaving it intact for "new light" players, but it's not worth fighting through Nightmares for absolute crap. I understand these are optional, but they're also boring. I'd like Nightmares to count as Bosses for the sake of Finest Matterweave, and the litte red orb things from Eververse that give you upgrade cores.

Upgrade Cores: Make up your mind, Bungle. You make it harder and harder as time goes on to upgrade the cool stuff. First we needed those little yellow rocks, now we need upgrade cores. Neither of which are easy to stock up on, especially if you're constantly playing catch up.

Armor: New Armor is cool, so is the new "Transmog" deal you've got going on. No complaints here outside of goddamn upgrade materials, which are also needlessly expensive. Enable Shaders on Exotics.

Weapons: I fucking hate random rolls. Especially ones that don't make sense. We've seen you have the ability to allow us to customize our armor mods, why not weapon perks? I'd rather have the ability to reroll weapons from my inventory or collections. Just reroll it as you remove it from collections. I wouldn't mind that even if we had to pay with Enhance Cores and Legendary Shards, like we ALREADY pay for pulling stuff out. Keep the "you don't unlock it till you find it" deal. That's cool. Enable shaders on exotics. ALL Exotics. This would give players so much more reason to try new designs and looks, while not hurting your "ornaments" bullshit too much. Even if you have to pick one or the other.

Iron Banner: Eff this entire gametype. Iron Banner Mayhem/Supremacy are the only fun ones. Disable level advantages, or fix your matchmaking. I've been trying to get a Forward Path, only to find out I can't. Eff that.

Various Events (EP, BW, Sundial): Guaranteed legendary drops. Every Time. whether you complete highest or lowest tier. So at least if the rest of your random teammates have no idea what they're doing, you're guaranteed a handful of Legendary Shards, Maybe some Enhancement Cores, and if you're feeling really Spicy, an Upgrade Module or two.

PVE: I like PVE, but it's also a little underwhelming. This is kind of a grey area for me. I love Slowva'ing a bunch of dregs, for satisfying results, but it feels a little too easy. I'd like an option, if there isn't one already, To trigger my own modifers or spawn into a "heroic" planet. This, I understand, is probably asking a bit much. This whole post is probably asking a bit much, TBH. Maybe scale enemies to like, 10 or 20 light less, so it can still be challenging if your stupid.

Crucible: This entire gametype is dookie, especially for people who hate crucible, like me. I'd love to grind out pinnacle weapons if it weren't such a godforsaken chore. One step, maybe two, at most. Three if you're feeling spicy. and lower requirements. I'm sick of getting gunned down by a Recluse or an NF or something like that before I even have time to react. I would love to do all of this on my own, but it's simply too overwhelming.

Scorched and Mayhem are cool, and fun, but I absolutely despise getting steamrolled simply because I'm lacking a perfect, 20/10 god-rolled Armor/Weapon/Super loadout. Also Warlocks need more opportunities to boost resilience and recovery. I fully understand they're squishy, but that makes them not fun for crucible, especially when I'm up against a 6x Titan Stack. Your teams for crucible should always result in fair and balanced teams. In my opinion, 2 of each class for the bigger gametypes, 4v4 could probably use some work too. 1 hunter, 1 titan, 2 warlocks maybe?

End.
