I(33m) have had depression for a long time and have steadily gotten to the point that I can (mostly) cope with it when it shows itself; however, there are still moments when my coping methods don't work.
At the moment, I don't really have the money to see a therapist and have been looking at self-help books in my spare time. I have done some cognitive behavior therapy exercises, tried to keep a routine, forced myself to eat enough/exercise enough, and remind myself that my negative feelings are temporary. Any really bad thoughts I have, I give myself a week (or two) to sit before I would act on them.
I don't have a support system (friends are too busy) and meditation doesn't work for me.
Are there any coping methods or suggestions that you would give someone/methods & suggestions that worked for you in your time of need?
