My girlfriend, who I've been with officially for only a few months, but unofficially 2 years, has reached a point with her depression where she has just flat out given up and said that she isn't even willing to fight anymore, she's given in and is just letting her depression take her, and what ever happens, happens. Now obviously this not only concerns me, but it hurts, and terrifies me, she's been through hell in her life, severe physical abuse, verbal, mental and emotional abuse, and according to her its only been the last 2 years with me in her life that she's had any real support. But apparently these last few months she's given up, she says that she doesnt have any kind of reason to even try and fight back, to come back from it, and that basically if she kills herself, then that's what was meant to happen, I dealt with depression for years, and its only recently that I've managed to come back from it in any real sense of the term, I've spent 2 years in therapy with weekly sessions, but anything I say to her isn't worth hearing or listening to, she just doesn't want to hear it. She refuses to see someone, whether its a psychologist or even just a normal doctor, she says that she feels in herself that getting help won't do enough and so there's no point, she doesnt have the energy and it's not worth the pain. I love her more than anything, and I want to support her, and be there for her, and help her..... but I just simply don't know how to anymore, I don't know how I'm.meant to be there for someone that isn't willing to fight in the slightest at all. Can anyone here relate? Or have any advice?
