Just started on abilify... Side effects?
Post Body

Hello, I'm brand new to this sub - I just started on Abilify 2 mg today and I'm wondering how others have functioned with it.

I'm 28 and within the last year started to develop symptoms of depression, triggered by a breakup last summer. I was on Zoloft for 7 months and found it very helpful. I went off it 2 months ago to see how I could function without drugs, and both my new boyfriend and I have noticed that my temper is back, and my depressive symptoms have returned (after another very stressful job situation last month). Bouts of crying, feeling bleak, very easily irritated, apathy, inability to make simple decisions because activities don't excite me like they used to, very low appetite (I have been using alcohol to stimulate my appetite, just one beer makes me hungry again), sleeping more etc... Very typical symptoms of depression.

So I've started seeing my psychiatrist who suggested I complete a mood chart; he doesn't have enough information at this point for an official diagnosis but from the looks of my mood chart and my reports of my symptoms it does look like I have a mild mood disorder or some sort.

It explains so much. I wish I had gotten help a long time ago.

Anyway, I'm very apprehensive about the weight gain factor as a side effect. I'm in the best shape of my life (regular hot yoga) and I've always had so much anxiety about my body that I really don't want to take something that's going to make me chubby :(
