A good friend of mine has been really quiet and I'm 95% it's due to their depression. They have mentioned struggling with it before and we hung out like a month ago and had a wonderful time. They said they'd love to go to the beach this summer, that they'd make me some brownies for a party i might have, and other things of a similar nature. At first when they were really quiet I thought I might have done something to upset them, but I think their depression is the reason they haven't texted me in like 2 weeks.
In general I want to support them the best I can. I'd also like to send them a supportive text (just one so I don't pester or overwhelm them) to basically say "hey, thinking of you. I know depression can be really hard so I totally understand if you need a lot of time. Just wanted you to know I'm really grateful we're friends and I'm sending you hugs". Any advice on how to word that or general advice on being a supportive friend?
For context I have anxiety and take meds for it so I'm very empathetic to how difficult mental health struggles can be.
