On the current Nuggets standings:
We lost some of the games we should've won, we also won some of the games we should've lost, so we are probably placed just right (on the conference standings). Then again, we should be happy and pleased about the current state of affairs just because we're short of a few main guys, the injuries have sidelined not only Jamal and Michael Porter but also PJ who then got traded. Even Vlatko, who we relied upon for a short while, got injured so we're happy to be where we are all things considered.
How much the team misses two young stars and quick playoffs preview thoughts:
For sure without those two guys I'm not really sure how far we can go forward, especially because most if not all of the teams are looking forward to getting some players back in health and ready. We're missing Jamal who is a fantastic scorer and MPJ who can always get his 20 or 30 points, we're missing a lot of scoring prowess right now, a feat so significant come playoffs. I think come playoffs time, the overall talent is what wins games and just people who can score, whereas during the regular season where you're playing back to back games, some of the times energy levels or staying extra commited can be a winning decider. Come playoffs time, these things are what's expected. We are going to give it our best even without them, but it's going to be much easier with those two returning.
On the MVP race:
I don't really follow the MVP race. It's just a recurring thing and a side effect of my play. I'm pleased because of myself, that my level of play didn't decrease, that I didn't relax, I'm still in pretty good shape and playing well. Now, whether I score 27pts or 24pts, that's something fairly interchangeable, I'm just pleased I'm feeling well and leading my team the best that I can.
Thoughts about his current level of play:
I got double teamed last year too, this year I get double teamed, now, I don't really want to speak praise of myself, but I play with so much of a variety and with different positioning on the court where I bring up the ball, I can get into my spots from screens, I can shoot, so... I'm not just about post ups or low post up scoring chances. The coach also does some great work to adjust for this variety of mine with various cuts and actions so that I can display this talent or whatever I've got in the easiest possible way.
Thoughts on the national team moving forward:
(Eurobasket) It's so far away, I don't really think about national team too much. I'm keeping focus on what's current and I'll think about the NT when the time comes.
