When can I stop taking pain pills regularly?

Either through this sub or some people on YouTube the advice was given that after extraction it’s important to keep your alarm set and take pain pills every x hours the label says in order to avoid horrible pain. I’ve been doing that, but I hate taking pills. I’m starting to get nauseous every time I think about taking them. This past Wednesday was E day, is it too soon to stop and only take them when I feel pain? I don’t do well with pain at all, but I hate having to take pills so much.
