So I turned on my PS5 tonight with the controller and try to start up Demon's Souls-- a game that I've very recently put 24 hrs into (over the course of a few days), and finished for the first time last night. My PS5 stays on the loading screen (the one that's just cover art) for far too long, and while I'm googling how to fix a frozen PS5 I hear a snap from what I thought was my PS5 and think "that can't be good".
But since its still frozen on that screen I get up and press the power button for several seconds (like google said) to turn the console off. When I start it back up I'm told that I need to insert the disc... even though it hasn't left my console in days. So I eject it, reinsert it, and I'm told that the PS5 cannot read the disc because its either dirty or upside down.
At this point, I finally inspect the disc and notice this crack that's actually a bit longer than you can see n the picture. I tried a couple more times with this disc and no luck.
I've since tried using two other discs (one PS4; one PS5), and had no issues. Since the PS5 seems to be working just fine I'm thinking it was a faulty disc to begin with? I bought the game from Amazon (4 dollars cheaper with Prime), and they're usually pretty good about returns and such. Although I've never tried it with a video game.
What are your thoughts? Can you think of any other reason why this might have happened? Is there something I should do or avoid doing in the future?
Has this happened to anyone?
Not sure if this post is off topic. I'm just posting it here cuz the game that broke was Demon's Souls, and honestly, I'll take all the advise I can get
Thanks in advance!
