I really canāt stand this guy. I know Iām preaching to the choir, but he is such a phony. Itās a challenge to empathize with his supporters but ultimately I feel there has to be an attempt, because theyāre all just being gaslit and used.
When Clinton lost.. part of me understood. First, she won the popular vote.. so it was easy to place the blame on the system and consider him a āhistorical mistakeā so to speak. Second, Clinton is not without scandal. Just being honest, sheās not the most likable political figure to say the least.
But Harris? Harris had everything. Her career in California was defined by her exceptional contributions to the protection and furtherance of child welfareā¦ it doesnāt get more likable than that! At least in my book. A defender of children is a person who has things right. Has their head in the right place. Not only that, but she didnāt lean in on the āfirst woman presidentā thing ā which I thought was a unique & intelligent move. She focused on talking about what she can do for people rather than what she will accomplish in her career by winning. She handled interviews flawlessly. She won the debate by a landslide.
I am struggling to understand.
Is it seriously just because she isnāt a man?
Because thatās what it entirely seems like.
With Clinton? I was able to make myself understand why it might not have been that, but with Harris I am a bit shook by the fact that she not only lost in general.. but lost the popular vote.
This reality feels dystopian and I feel unsafe.. and Iām a fuckin white guyā¦ so I genuinely canāt even fathom what other people feel like.
(Note: I was required to add an attachment to this post, so I decided to add an edit I made in September following the debate. Iām sorry if this is the wrong sub to post this.)
