I (26F) saw someone briefly mention this in their post and I kinda wanted to touch on it as well because it's something that I felt like I strongly identified with. I realize that I am absolutely horrible when it comes to flirting with others or being receptive to flirting in general. If the person of interest is too upfront with their flirting then I get uncomfortable and withdraw which usually ends up killing my attraction for them. If they flirt with me subtly then I just either get a bit anxious or I just kinda deflect it with a laugh or playful banter (depending on how close/comfortable I am with the person.)

Although I initially didn't have a problem with it, I realize that it will probably hinder my dating life quite a bit because I think oftentimes it comes off as disinterest in the eyes of the person I'm interested in. I think sometimes people misinterpreted my interest or think that they are making me uncomfortable when that is not always the case. I've just never been a flirty person for as long as I can remember and I think the way I flirt (when and if I do), it's usually done subconsciously through some sort of playful banter. I find that I do well with that sort of flirting from others as well, but anything that is overly sexual or cheesy just makes me cringe and want to hide under a rock.

I guess I'm just posting this to see if anyone else has experienced this as well? I'm not sure if this is necessarily a Demisexual thing or just a me thing but in any case, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this or if you are having the same sort of dilemma, how are you handling it?
