My grandmother has been steadily getting worse for the last 5 years or so. I have been reporting the major red flags for the last year or so. They assured me that things like: paranoid hallucinations, false memories, and accusing people of trying to murder her, were all normal for someonr with early on-set dementia.
She was admitted to thr hospital over the weekend and has been there ever since. The ER doctors were refusing to send her home since she IS a danger to herself. The caseworker however, is pushing to have her discharged. She has gone so far as to tell me that if "when they call and I dont answer, they will call the police to do a wellness check ON ME, and pending that, they will give guardianship to the state.
Im freaking out. I feel like the world is ending. I dont know what else to do.
I dont have any personal info on my grandma, she refuses to tell me anything (because she doesnt see why she cant take care of herself)
What can i do? Who should I be calling? What happens to someone who refuses help but cant function without it?
Some info- I dont have POA, i have sponsership, no one else in the family wants to help, i live close by but sending her to the hospital has burned the what little trust I did have. She wont let me help.
