Contested guardianship proceedings...sigh (a rant)

So the court appointed a lawyer for my mother in law. Apparently she was able to convince the lawyer that she's fine, because the lawyer wants to have the guardianship process contested.
This woman has been non med compliant for years, is not oriented to time well, and has no idea how money works. Plus she has plenty of other symptoms like anger, confusion, sundowning, etc.
The need for guardianship is so obvious. I don't know how she managed to convince the lawyer but this is going to be so exhausting.
