Wanted to share a pricing tip for anyone looking for international flights from the US. I needed a flight from Detroit to Seoul and the cost DTW-ICN was nearly $12,000 for business class. I searched around for a flight from other Delta hubs and was shocked to find a fare out of JFK, which connected through DTW to the same flight as above, for $6500. So I just booked that flight, and a one way to JFK for $250.
Now I realize not many people are paying out of pocket for business class flights(including me, this is business travel) however fare difference should carry over to point redemption, and I will personally do a lot to stretch those sky pesos as far as they’ll go.
I expected to see a variation due to Detroit not having as many flight options to Asia, but didn’t expect it to be double another major market.
