Taking two of my employees on a business trip to Europe this December. Work forces us to book Basic Economy even though the bag fees we have to pay for each of them are now higher than the fare difference between Basic and Main. I've pushed for an excpetion until I'm blue in the face. I was able to cancel my ticket and apply the credit to a PS ticket, and then score a cheap D1 upgrade. Employees are not as seasoned and don't know how to do that. Meanwhile one of them is freaking out about potentially being in a middle seat and not a window. I honestly wish BE was only something that single travelers between the ages of 18-50 could buy, and not anything bookable on a corporate travel website. Then our cheap-ass employers wouldn't be able to screw us over to "save" $50. Rant over.
ETA: the PS ticket was only $350 more than BE, it's not a popular winter destination and we are not flying out of a popular winter destination either. Just makes me even more mad.
