So I was really dumb and young so I did this without any protection aside from Tor itself. I don’t exactly know where I ended up, but I remember I found a huge list of links from a site called wiki-something from the clear net I can’t remember the name fully, but it was clearly a play on Wikipedia. And I would copy and paste these links into onion, and it sent me to a scrollable almost like a home page of a variety of things. I saw mostly firearms and drugs, I scrolled past some thumbnails of cheese pizza and animal cruelty. Besides the last two I mentioned, it was pretty cool just looking at what was out there and occasionally I would click on obscure links. Most of them were just creepy graphics and music, saw some hitman ads and empty r*d rooms.
What happened that freaked me out was about a day after my last time doing it, I got a blocked call to my phone. It was someone speaking through a voice modulator, and they knew my name. It happened twice more over the next 3 days, each call being under 20-30 seconds. Very creepy, with a voice modulator every time.
I never went back on Tor because of that. I thought that it definitely had to do with my unprotected activity on there even though I didn’t input any of my information.
Was this a coincidence or could my information been compromised somehow? I’d really like to revisit, so I would also appreciate tips on how to stay safe while surfing. All I know is that I shouldn’t use a VPN. Also, does anyone know about the clear net wiki site I was on?
