How to get rid of clothes that I like and wear?

I have way too many. Some are more for work, some for free time, some for hobbies I have. Some comfy and tomboyish, some girly and pretty, then there is elegant or sexy or just perfect for being warm on winter etc and then not everything matches with everything in terms of style and colour - there you go, a super large collection. How do I select which ones I should part ways with?

This is one that I am struggling with. It is normal for me to go 3 weeks without doing laundry. When I am not doing well, I can go longer. I also tend to wear at least 3 outfits a day. Work clothes, lounge clothes, pajamas. Sometimes more if I work out or go out or whatever. I also have lived in vastly different climates, and although I have gotten rid of a lot of my climate related stuff, I still have a fair bit of it.
So, I have a lot of clothes, but I actually do wear them. So where is the line?
I have been thinking about which clothes make my life easier and better. If there are clothes that make things more complicated or difficult, they should go. I don't know if this is the right answer, but it is what I am going with today.
