So I was recently forced to quit coffee by a stream of horrible panic attacks that came out of nowhere. I struggled with anxiety since I was a kid and I learned the hard way that coffee triggers it really badly in my case, but I seemed to have resolved the issue and could enjoy coffee anxiety free for a while, until recently. A bit unexpected considering I made a lot of positive changes to my lifestyle and didn’t expect the rebound but whatever, a panic attack on the bus on my way to work was enough to make me go decaf cold turkey.
No regrets, I wish I quit sooner. My problem seemed resolved from day one, but yesterday, exactly a week into going decaf, anxiety returned. Not as bad as previously, but it was very noticeable, verging on a panic attack.
Should I be worried or could this be a symptom of withdrawals? In the past quitting coffee would take care of panic attacks entirely leaving only GAD for me to deal with.
