For example, I’ve more recently been trying to get into 60s music (mainstream 60s music - the Beatles, the supremes, beach boys) and although I’m actually enjoying the tunes quite a bit and am finding them catchy, I notice how old they sound to me. The music of the Beatles remains particularly catchy and so many of their songs are timeless, so i am making this comment less so in regards to their band than to others. I think a lot of 70s, 80s and 90s songs def sound like products of their time too but it’s hard to explain 60s songs sound VERY dated.
“Toto” by Africa is ABSOLUTELY 80s and “this is how we do it” is absolutely 90s but I feel like more than anything else I can REALLY hear how dated 60s music is I know my thoughts make no sense
However I also grew up with my mom playing lots of 70s 80s and 90s music
Like 60s music already feels grandparent kind of old to me (and my grandparents were the only ones who were alive in the 60s so makes sense)
