First time Linux user, problem with audio control
Post Body

Hi, I chose Debian to install on an old laptop that won't run much else. Been very pleased so far. I'm having a problem. Audio is playing fine on the computer, but I can't adjust the volume. Buttons on the laptop do nothing. When I hover over the little volume icon on the bottom, it says "Not connected to the PulseAudio server." when I open the PulseAudio volume control program, it just says "Establishing connection to PulseAudio. Please wait..."

I tried something I found online: apt purge pulseaudio apt install pulseaudio reboot

That seemed to do nothing. It was working fine yesterday, I can't figure it out. If anyone has any ideas, that would be much appreciated. Thanks!
